The Assassination of Robert Kennedy

President candidate Robert F. Kennedy was mortally wounded on June 5, 1968 at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. That evening, he was declared the winner of the South Dakota and California presidential primaries in the 1968 electron. He was pronounced dead at 1:44am on June 6 which was about 26 hours after he had been shot. Senator Kennedy spoke to journalists and campaign workers at a live televised celebration from the stage of his headquarters at the Ambassador Hotel. Shortly after leaving the podium, he was shot multiple times by a handgun. The shooter was a 24-year old immigrant named Sirhan Sirhan. In 1969, Sirhan was convicted of murdering the senator and sentenced to death.
